For many of us, the thighs are a problem area.
Even with a healthy diet and regular exercise, this area of the body often proves resistant to even the strictest regime and is prone to issues like bulges of fat and a loss of skin elasticity. Fortunately, there are a number of body contouring techniques that can be performed to improve the overall appearance of the thighs and achieve a more defined look. So, if you’re considering a procedure for a more youthful body contour and firmer upper legs, read on to find out exactly what your options are…
What is body contouring?
Our body contouring procedures encompass a wide range of techniques that are designed to achieve a more harmonious look. Body contouring techniques can really rejuvenate one’s appearance, but because each patient is different, some procedures are better suited to certain bodies than others. For this reason, your procedure may include a combination of techniques, and will be customised to suit your particular concern. We’ll perform an assessment before you undergo any procedure, so that we can advise you on the best treatment plan for your body type.
Should I opt for liposuction?
Liposuction is an increasingly popular choice. In fact, it is one of the most internationally requested cosmetic procedures at the moment. During the procedure, excess fat is removed from the body to effectively improve the body’s contour. In the case of a thigh reduction, excess fat is removed from the thighs. The procedure is best suited to patients who don’t have a lot of excess skin, and who have good skin elasticity. You should be close to your ideal body weight and have sustained your current weight for the last six months. Besides the thighs, liposuction can be performed on a number of areas of the body, including the neck, upper arms, abdomen, buttocks, hips, knees and calves.
How long does it take to recover from liposuction?
Your recovery will depend on a number of factors, but we recommend that you wear a compression garment for a month or two following your treatment. This will help to minimise swelling and aid the healing process. You will need to rest after your liposuction procedure, and it’s a good idea to avoid strenuous exercise for around two weeks.
During liposuction, fat cells are removed permanently from the body. However, it is best to maintain a regular exercise regime and to follow a balanced, healthy eating plan following treatment for the best possible results.
What about thigh lift surgery?
A thigh lift, also known as thighplasty, is a procedure in which the overall appearance of the thighs is improved by tightening the skin on the upper part of the inner thigh. It’s ideal for patients who want to have firmer and more defined upper legs. During the procedure, excess skin and fat is removed to restore a generally more pleasing contour.
How long does it take to recover after thighplasty?
In most cases, post-operative pain is minimal following a thigh reduction procedure. We do, however, recommend that you rest as much as possible and take about a week off work. You may experience some bruising and swelling, although these side effects should resolve themselves within about a month of the procedure. You should avoid strenuous exercise during this time.
If you’re interested in improving the contours of your thighs, please don’t hesitate to get in touch and arrange a consultation. We also offer a range of other surgical body procedures, including body lift, arm lift, and tummy tuck surgery. If you’re thinking about undergoing a body procedure, we’ll begin the process with an initial assessment and consultation. This will ensure that you receive the most appropriate procedure for your desired outcome.
